The Las Vegas Showdown at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will kick off NASCAR weekend slated for Feb. 27 to March 2.

The Las Vegas Showdown will include a 100-lap Super Late Model feature, 30-lap I.M.C.A. Modified race and two 20-lap Legends Cars races.

Although the showdown is the first of 19 local NASCAR Weekly Racing Series races, several drivers from Arizona, California, Colorado and Utah are expected to compete.

"The Las Vegas Showdown is a great event to start the 2003 NASCAR Weekly Racing Series at The Bullring," said Andy Adamcik, manager of short-track racing. "The Showdown is attracting the attention of the best short-track racers in the southwest and is creating the opportunity for local racers to showcase their talents as part of our NASCAR weekend of events."

Spectator gates open at 6 p.m. Qualifying is set for 6:30 with racing at 7:15.

General admission is $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens/ military personnel and $3 for children 6-12. Children five and under are free. A Family Four Pack can be purchased for $25. Admission to the Stockyard is $30 per vehicle (up to four people).

Pit gates open at 2p.m. Admission to the pits is $20 for NASCAR members and $25 for non-members.

NASCAR weekend includes the UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 NASCAR Winston Cup Series race March 2, Sam¿s Town 300 NASCAR Busch Series race March 1 and the World of Outlaws Feb. 28 and March 1.
