Scott Lynch is a candidate for rookie of the year in the NASCAR Winston West Series. This Saturday at the Bullring, he will be looking to do something not done by any other Winston West driver. The 22-year-old will try and become the first driver ever to win Winston West events on both of Las Vegas Motor Speedway¿s NASCAR-sanctioned tracks in Saturday night¿s Orleans 222. Lynch notched his first major NASCAR victory at the Winston West race at LVMS¿ 1.5-mile superspeedway last year. Craig Raudman is the only driver to win a NASCAR-sanctioned event on both tracks. Raudman¿s wins came in the NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Series. ¿We are excited about the chance to make history at Las Vegas Motor Speedway,¿ said Lynch. ¿Although our main goal this year is to earn rookie-of-the-year honors, making history in Las Vegas would be a great accomplishment as well.¿ The University of Utah senior finished second to Ken Schrader in the season¿s first race at Phoenix. Lynch and his Yerf-Dog/Orleans-sponsored team tested earlier this month at the Bullring in preparation for The Orleans 222. With an Orleans Racing prepared car, Lynch looks forward to bringing a hometown win to Coast Casinos chairman Michael Gaughan and Orleans Racing. ¿Mr. Gaughan has helped us out. If we could win in his hometown, home track and home for his casinos, I think he¿ll be pretty impressed with that,¿ concluded Lynch. ARCA Trucks and Thunder Roadsters will accompany the NASCAR Grand National Division, Winston West Series for The Orleans 222. Spectator gates open at 4 p.m. A driver autograph session is set for 5:30 p.m. with main events beginning at 6:45 p.m. General admission prices are $19 for adults, $15 senior citizens/ military personnel and $10 for children ages 6-12.
