Mike Cofer, driver of the No. 04 KB Homes Super Late Model at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, has taken the Division III points lead in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series.

"It always feels good to be leading the points," said Cofer.  "It means you're doing the right things week in and week out to be consistent and run up front.  It's always better to be the leader than the chaser.  We're going to be in a tough point's battle for the track championship and that should help us with the Division III points."

Cofer, who won two Super Bowl rings as a kicker with the San Francisco 49ers, has competed for the past four seasons at the Bullring.

Cofer has one win but has been consistent with six top-five finishes.  Hickory Motor Speedway's Keith Bumgarner is second in the standings.  Cofer has 608 points over Bumgarner's 604.

The Super Late Models are off this week but will return to the Bullring for more racing action on July 3 for the Night of Fire.
