Lovelady earns second Super Late Model victory at the Bullring
on Fourth-of-July weekend "Night of Fire"

The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway's Fourth-of-July weekend "Night of Fire" ended with a bang for fans and Super Late Model driver Tom Lovelady Sunday night.  Lovelady won the 50-lap Super Late Model feature - his second win of the 2005 Bullring season - and fans were treated to fireworks and a jet-powered fire truck completely destroying a car.

The 16-year-old Lovelady led all but the first three laps of the Super Late Model feature.   Scott Gafforini took second place, followed by polesitter Thane Alderman and Mike Cofer.  Travis Swalwell completed the top five.

"We had an awesome run and the car handled great," Lovelady said. "I don't know what happened to Spencer (Clark), but we had a great race tonight."

Lovelady was chased by Clark for the majority of the race but during a restart on lap 39 Clark experienced transmission problems and fell back six places. Clark ended the night with an eighth-place finish.

Josh Gross, Rick Rogas and Bear Rzesnowiecky each picked up a win in the Legends Cars race. Rogas placed first out of all divisions in the Legends Cars feature and earned his eighth Masters division win of the year. Gross won his fourth straight race in the Pro division and picked up his fifth win of the season. Rzesnowiecky drove away with his second win of the season in the Semi-Pro division.

Justin Good won his third Charger feature of the season, beating Bill Mullen and Phil Goodwin to the checkered flag.  In the 7-11 Bullring Bomber feature, Vinny Raucci captured his first checkered flag of the year, defeating Tom Gallagher and Joe Crouch in the 20-lap event.

Matt Ross won the 15-lap Thunder Roadster feature, defeating Steve Ray and Jovon Halen for his third consecutive win in the series and his fourth win this year.

The Super Late Model B-feature was won by Bob Barker.

Earlier in the evening, LVMS General Manager Chris Powell and Bullring drivers Taylor Barton, Justin Good and Stoney Gray participated in a "Dunk-the-Driver" carnival dunk tank, with proceeds benefiting The Las Vegas Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities.  Powell and the drivers raised $679.00 for the charity, with an additional $44.00 earned at a face-painting booth.

The Bullring will take a break from the summer heat and resume racing on Aug. 6 with the "Dog Days of Summer" race featuring Super Late Models, Late Models, Sudden Impact Auto Body IMCA Modifieds, Thunder Roadsters, Bandoleros and 7-11 Bullring Bombers.
