Another round of NHRA Jr. Dragster competition is now history at The Strip and Las Vegas Motor Speedway and four winners went home with coveted "Wally" trophies. Wally trophies ¿ statuettes modeled after NHRA founder Wally Parks ¿ are a drag racer's most prized possession. To straight-line racers, they carry the same amount of significance as the Motion Picture Industry of America's "Oscar."

On Saturday, Sept. 28, Dean Call of Castaic, Calif., defeated Henderson's Tristan Craig in the Jr. 8-9 category. Katie Hepler of Fountain Valley, Calif. outran fellow Golden Stater David Thompson of La Mirada for Jr. 10-12 honors. Steven Holmes of Henderson was the only local winner, taking the Jr. 13-14 victory from Utah's Amanda Phillips. Shannon Robin of Alta Loma, Calif. won the Jr. 15-17 category over Henderson's Justin Lamb.
