ACDelco, a leader in the automotive aftermarket parts category and long-time sponsor of NHRA drag racing, has reached a second multi-year agreement with the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) and The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway to continue as title-rights sponsor of the second of two NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series events held annually at the multi-purpose motorsports complex.

The third annual ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals, Oct. 23-26, is the 22nd of 23 events in the $50 million NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series for 2003. The $2 million race, which will be televised by ESPN2, could prove critical for NHRA teams chasing NHRA POWERade championships in all four professional categories.

"ACDelco is delighted to build on our successful relationship with NHRA and Las Vegas Motor Speedway by extending our title-rights sponsorship of the ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals," said ACDelco General Manager Scott Mackie. "The autumn event in Las Vegas plays a pivotal role in determining the NHRA POWERade champions, and it is a key element in ACDelco's marketing activities in conjunction with the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week trade shows that attract more than 80,000 attendees. Combining the excitement of Las Vegas with the power of NHRA championship drag racing produces a winning combination that leverages ACDelco's comprehensive motorsports marketing program as both a team and product sponsor."

The commitment maintains ACDelco's involvement with the NHRA. ACDelco also is the primary sponsor for Kurt Johnson's Chevy Cavalier in Pro Stock competition. In addition, ACDelco is an associate sponsor on six-time NHRA Pro Stock champion Warren Johnson's GM Performance Parts Pontiac Grand Am.

"We're pleased that ACDelco is continuing its support of the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series by renewing their title sponsorship of one of the critical stops on the tour where POWERade championship titles are often decided," said Bob Wagner, NHRA vice president of sales and business development. "ACDelco has demonstrated its passion and commitment to NHRA Drag Racing through their sponsorship of two of the most competitive Pro Stock teams and they have certainly established themselves as a leading title-rights sponsor by hosting an outstanding event in the nation's capital city of entertainment, Las Vegas."

The ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals is one of two NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series events hosted by The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The quarter-mile facility also hosts the NHRA Nationals in April.

"ACDelco has been a great partner of Las Vegas Motor Speedway since the announcement in 2000 that The Strip would host a second NHRA national event," said Chris Powell, LVMS president and general manager. "ACDelco is the only primary sponsor in the history of our fall event, and we look forward to its involvement for many more years. ACDelco has been instrumental in helping promote this event, which has become one of the most anticipated stops on the NHRA schedule."
