46,000 sq. ft. of pavement added to pits at The Strip

The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is famous for its expansive pits, and that area will expand as work crews are paving an additional 46,000 sq. ft. this month.  The paving will include both sides of the drag strip pits (which currently are gravel).  The Strip also is paving the trackside RV parking spaces to provide a dust-free environment for campers.

¿One of our main priorities is to provide a pleasant experience for both racers and spectators,¿ said Chris Blair, LVMS' director of drag racing operations.  ¿Our events have grown dramatically since the facility was opened in 2000 and we don¿t want to stop. This project improves amenities for all customers and affords us the opportunity to add even more exciting events.

¿Every square inch of pit and midway will now be paved,¿ continued Blair. ¿When the facility was constructed, we never imagined that we would have races with so many participants.  Over the last two years we¿ve had a total of five events that have had in excess of 875 competitors and a couple that are nearing 1,000.  We now have the ability to pit each and every one of them in a paved spot.  We now can honestly say that there are no ¿bad¿ pit or parking spots at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.¿

The Strip at LVMS annually plays host to two NHRA national events, the NHRA Summit Sport Compact Series, the Jerry's Nugget Championship Drag Racing Series, the Titan Auto Insurance Midnight Mayhem Series, the Short Line Express Markets NHRA Jr. Dragster League, the Super Chevy Show and All Harley Drag Racing Association (AHDRA).
