Kruse wins NHRA National Dragster Challenge;

Hite crowned Outlaw Eliminator champion at The Strip at LVMS


Don Kruse of Las Vegas won the NHRA National Dragster Challenge for the Outlaw Eliminator class at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Saturday night.  Kruse, driving the Kruse & Raymond Beretta, defeated Kenny Yeoman to claim the coveted NHRA "Wally" trophy.


Although he was defeated in the first round of eliminations, Antonio Hite of Las Vegas earned enough points to claim the 2003 Jerry's Nugget Championship Drag Racing Series Outlaw Eliminator title.  The points race ended as two-man battle for the crown.  Carl Cannavo was second in points going into the final night of racing, but was defeated in the semi-final and lost to Hite by a mere three points.


Michael Jackson of Las Vegas won the Footbrake finale over Bob Coulter.  Carl Cannavo of N. Las Vegas defeated Henderson's Bryan King for Super Pro honors.


The $100 Jerry's Nugget Casino No. 1 Qualifier Award in the Outlaw Eliminator category was earned by Bart Smith of N. Las Vegas.
