The Strip at LVMS closed for holiday weekend;

Drag racing resumes April 16-17 featuring Midnight Mayhem, Jerry¿s Nugget Championship Drag Racing Series, Short Line Express Market Jr. Dragsters

 

 

The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will be closed during the Easter holiday weekend, but will reopen April 16-17 with an aggressive schedule filled with variety.

The weekend begins on Friday at 6 p.m. with a Test ¿n¿ Tune session and Bracket Gambler race.

The third edition of Midnight Mayhem ¿ The Strip¿s safe alternative to illegal street racing ¿ will take place on Friday night from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.  Midnight Mayhem is open to any licensed driver (minors must have completed parental consent form) with proof of insurance and any street-legal car or motorcycle.  Entry fee is $10 per car and driver.  Spectator admission is $5.  Each Midnight Mayhem includes hip-hop DJs, a Euro Entertainment car show and midway attractions.

Friday¿s Midnight Mayhem is an event-within-an-event, with the inclusion of the Hankook Tire Drifting Series in The Strip¿s drift arena located behind the staging lanes.

The Short Line Express Markets NHRA Jr. Drag Racing Series will hold its first points event Saturday morning at 8 a.m.

The Jerry¿s Nugget Championship Drag Racing Series begins with its first points race of the 2004 season on Saturday evening, followed by Motorcycle Madness (Midnight Mayhem for motorcycles only).

6-10 p.m. -- Test ¿n¿ Tune, Bracket Gambler race.

7 p.m.-Midnight -- Las Vegas Drifting Series (Strip Drift Arena).

10 p.m.-2 a.m. -- Midnight Mayhem No. 3.

 

Saturday, April 17

8 a.m.-Noon -- Short Line Express Markets Jr. Drag Racing Series race No. 1.

5:30-11 p.m. -- Jerry¿s Nugget Championship Drag Racing Series points race No. 1, Hustlers Car Club street rod cruise night.

11 p.m.-1:30 a.m. -- Motorcycle Madness No. 1.
