The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway honored

as 2004 NHRA Division 7 Track of the Year


The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway was honored as Track of the Year at the NHRA Division 7 (Pacific) awards ceremony, held Saturday night at the Gold Coast Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

Chris Blair, LVMS¿ senior director of drag racing operations, accepted the award.

"We're honored to be selected by the racers of the Pacific Division for this award," said Blair.  "In recent years several tracks have made dramatic improvements and the competition to be the best has increased. That makes this award even more special."

The Strip opens its 2005 drag racing season with the annual Nitro Blast-off on Jan. 21-23.  The Nitro Blast-off is a three-day test session for all NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series professional teams.  The event¿s entry list includes 13-time NHRA Funny Car champion John Force and all of his teams.  The session, which will attract most of the biggest names in professional drag racing, is open to the public.  Adult admission is $20 per day or $50 for all three days.  For more information, call The Strip at (702) 632-8213 or visit
