Hight beats the boss in Vegas match race;

Bazemore quickest at 4.75


Rookie of the Year candidate Robert Hight (pictured) stole the show during Saturday's Nitro Blast-off test session at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Hight made one of the quickest Funny Car passes of the day with a 4.765 sec. run in the Auto Club Ford and, in the process, won his first-ever side-by-side race, defeating his boss, John Force, who ran 4.773 sec.


Whit Bazemore made the quickest run of the day with a 4.759 while Gary Scelzi ran a pair of 4.76s and Ron Capps a 4.812. Eric Medlen ran 4.774, Del Worsham and Phil Burkart 4.898 and 4.876, and Tommy Johnson Jr. 4.81. Morgan Lucas posted low E.T. of the event when he drove Joe Amato¿s Lucas Oil Top Fueler to an early shut-off 4.57. Testing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will continue Sunday.
