The Strip at LVMS honors American heroes with new racing class

The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and GlobePC.com have announced the creation of a new, exciting class which honors active-duty military personnel, police officers, firemen and EMTs. The American Heroes Street-Legal Challenge will be contested as part of GlobePC.com Show 'n' Go Fridays Presented By Short Line Express Markets. Racers who meet the qualifications of the category will receive a free race entry.

"We're fortunate to have a great working relationship with the military, police, fire and rescue workers in our community," said Chris Blair, Las Vegas Motor Speedway's Senior Director of Drag Racing Operations. "All of these groups have been extremely supportive of our numerous programs and we wanted to create a series to recognize their hard work."

The new program is open to street legal-vehicles. The races will be contested in a in a standard bracket-racing format on the five scheduled Friday nights. Trophies, plaques and additional prizes will be awarded to race and class winners as well as the free race entry courtesy of series sponsor GlobePC.com.

"Everyone at GlobePC.com believes this is a great program, rewarding our military, police, fire and emergency workers," said GlobePC.com President and local drag racer Mike Giordano. "The Show 'n' Go Friday events already are packed with excitement and the American Heroes Street-Legal Challenge will make the events even bigger and better."

The first of five GlobePC.com Show 'n' Go Fridays Presented By Short Line Express Markets will take place on Friday evening and will feature six racing classes, open testing and a street rod cruise night. Additional events are scheduled for June 10, July 15, August 12 and September 9.
