Dwyer, Winters share Meadow Gold Jr. NHRA Dragster spotlight

Sunday at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Jett Dwyer of Palmdale, Calif., won the Lightning division finale at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway's Meadow Gold NHRA Jr. Dragster Series Presented By Short Line Express Markets race Sunday morning. Luke Winters of Las Vegas did likewise in the Thunder division.

Dwyer waded through a field of 22 cars to face Ian Perri of Las Vegas in the final round. A better reaction time off the starting line -- .096 to Perri's .138 - helped Dwyer earn the victory.

Winters weathered a 12-car field of Jr. Dragsters to meet Kayla Glenn of Kingman, Ariz., in the final round. Winters posted a reaction time of .139 and a top speed of 55.23 mph to claim the win.

Winner: Jett Dwyer (Palmdale, Calif.) 2004 Halfscale .096 8.194 sec./75.99 mph.

Runner-up: Ian Perri (Las Vegas) 1998 Strickland .138 8.257 sec./79.36 mph.

MEADOW GOLD JR. DRAGSTER SERIES - THUNDER

Winner: Luke Winters (Las Vegas) 1996 Jr. Dragster .139 11.189 sec./55.23 mph.

Runner-up: Kayla Glen (Kingman, Ariz.) 1998 Spitzer .235 13.146 sec./48.67 mph.
