Pacific Street Car Association to compete five times at The Strip at LVMS in 2006;

Inaugural PSCA Street Car Super Nationals Nov. 17-19, 2006

            The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway announced today the Pacific Street Car Association (PSCA) will present five events here in 2006.  Four of the five events will be included in the PSCA's 2006 points chase.  The fifth PSCA event at The Strip at LVMS will be the world's largest Pro Street event: the 2006 PSCA Street Car Super Nationals.

            "Pro street drag racing has evolved into one of the most fun and entertaining forms of motorsports and we're excited to expand our involvement in the program," said Chris Blair, LVMS' senior director of drag racing operations.  "This series is all about taking a stock-appearing race car, shoehorning a huge motor under the hood, feeding it with racing fuel and nitrous oxide and holding on as it makes a 220-mph trip down the quarter mile. The cars are entertaining because they are so scary to watch."

The PSCA series consists of nine different heads-up categories designed for every type of car, racer skill level and car owner's budget.  Participating cars range from project muscle cars to former NHRA Pro Stock and Pro Mod category racers. Each PSCA event attracts approximately 300 cars from the western United States and also includes car shows and a large manufacturer's midway.

"We already have several PSCA teams based in Las Vegas and I know of several teams that are currently building cars for future competition," said Blair. "Announcing our expanded schedule this far in advance will give racers who were thinking about building a car for 2006 extra incentive to start the construction process.  We believe this form of drag racing has unlimited potential and we are committed to building this sport in Las Vegas."

            The 2006 PSCA schedule for The Strip at LVMS:  February 18-19 (PSCA Icebreaker Season Kick-Off); April 22-23 (PSCA Spring Sizzle); June 23-24 (PSCA Summer Nationals); September 2-3 (PSCA Labor Day Showdown) and November 17-19 (PSCA Street Car Super Nationals).
