NHRA announces 2006 national event dates for The Strip at LVMS;

Spring date earlier, autumn event later

            For the sixth consecutive year, the Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will host two NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series events in 2006.  The 2006 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series schedule, released today, contained some minor changes from the 2005 NHRA dates at LVMS.

            The NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals will be held April 6-9, 2006, which is a week earlier than this past April's event. The NHRA ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals, scheduled this year for Oct. 20-23, will be held Oct. 26-29 in 2006.

            "Today's announced schedule changes are good for The Strip," said Chris Powell, LVMS' general manager.  "The spring event was moved up a week so that it does not conflict with the Easter holiday.  Moving the fall event a week later in October enables us to take advantage of the annual Nevada Day festivities. Although these are not radical date changes, these modifications should allow us to enhance drag racing's premier series and the events at the world's greatest drag strip."
