Perennial favorite Ed Thornton of Chino Hills, Calif., won the Pro Street finale during the Pacific Street Car Association (PSCA) Winter Nationals Sunday at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  Thornton's 1957 Chevrolet faced Mary Baltzell of Rancho Mirage, Calif., in the final round, but Baltzell fouled (red-lit) on the starting line to surrender the victory.  Thornton, who also set Low E.T. and Top Speed of the meet (6.474 sec./224.66 mph), ran 6.474 sec./224.47 mph on his winning pass in the heads-up final.  On Friday night, Thornton made an exhibition pass during BFGoodrich Midnight Mayhem and exceeded 225 mph.

The sole local winner was Bart Smith of N. Las Vegas (Super Street).

Wild Street - David Bowman of Fremont, Calif., defeated Levi Hanna of Westchester, Calif.
Limited Street - Gary Brandt of Palmdale defeated Gordon Saiki of Gardena.
Mean Street - Leonard Massey of Gilbert, Ariz., defeated Mike Nordahl of Fontana.
Open Comp - Michael Nossett of Buena Park, Calif., defeated Dennis Evans of Las Vegas.
Trophy - Sterling Cargill of Buena Park, Calif., defeated Jim Adams of Huntington Beach, Calif.
Bracket 1 - Jeff Strunk of Woodland Park, Colo., defeated Bob McArthur of N. Las Vegas.
Quick Street - Fred Caufield defeated Glenn Jefferson.

The next event at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is the Short Line Express Markets Jr. Dragster weekend, Feb. 16-18.  The weekend begins with Jr. Dragster Test 'n' Tune on Friday, followed by two complete shows on Saturday and Sunday, both beginning at 9 a.m.
