Officials for The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Nevada Beverage, distributor for Anheuser-Busch products in Las Vegas, have announced a new program for racers participating in the Jerry's Nugget Championship Drag Racing Series.  The Bud Light Best Light of the Night Award will pay $100 cash and product awards to the drivers and riders in the Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Motorcycle categories who post the best reaction time during eliminations.

"We're very excited to have Nevada Beverage and the Bud Light brand participating in this program," said Chris Blair, LVMS' vice president of racing operations.  "Our local bracket-racing program continues to thrive and it means a lot to us to have partners like Nevada Beverage who recognize the hard work of sportsman racers."

Upon the conclusion of eliminations, officials from The Strip at LVMS will announce the winner of the Best Light of the Night Award.  The program will recognize reaction-time results for both winning and losing runs. In the event of a tie, the tie-breaker will go to the racer who scored on a winning run. If a second tie-breaker is needed, the closest-to-dial will be used to select a winner.

"Many reaction time and bonus awards only recognize winning runs," continued Blair.  "We all agreed that the guy getting put on the trailer after a loss needs something to pick him up and $100 in cash and some Budweiser products will do just that."

If a racer under the legal drinking age of 21 wins the award, he will receive the $100 bonus -- but no beer.
Bud Light's Best Light of the Night program is the drag racing segment of a two-part sponsorship agreement supporting grassroots racing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  Nevada Beverage and the Budweiser brand also will also be the primary sponsor of NASCAR Whelen All-American Racing Series heat races and dashes at the Bullring, LVMS' 3/8 mile asphalt oval.
