(Aug. 1) Michael Hadtrath of Las Vegas won the inaugural Top Dog competition for street-legal cars during Midnight Mayhem Presented By MetroPCS at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Hadtrath, who recently moved here from Southern California, defeated Frank Yee with a 140-mph pass for the $1,000 prize and the bragging rights of owning the fastest street-legal car in Las Vegas.

A total of 40 cars qualified for tonight's event on June 13 and June 20.  All qualifiers were required to exceed 115 mph in street-legal trim (including mufflers, registration and insurance).

John Whittington (Las Vegas, 1998 Chevrolet) defeated John Carahalis (Las Vegas, 2005 Mustang).
Luis Velasco (Las Vegas, 2004 GTO) won when Lou Santilena's supercharged 1970 Nova crossed the center line from the right lane and crashed into the left-side wall.  He was not injured.
Michael Hadtrath (Las Vegas, 1971 Vega) defeated Jarrod Sibbett (Las Vegas, 1996 Integra).
Frank Yee singled on a bye run.

Hadtrath defeated Velasco.
Frank Yee defeated Whittington.

Hadtrath had the better reaction time off the starting line (.112 to Yee's .210) and won, 9.876 sec./140.05 mph to 10.852 sec./124.72 mph.
