The NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series will be known as the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series in 2009.  Although the series has a new name, it still will deliver the same brand of thrilling drag-racing entertainment to The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway twice next year.

For the ninth consecutive year, The Strip at LVMS will host a pair of NHRA national events. LVMS officials today announced its two 2009 NHRA event dates: April 2-5 for the 10th annual NHRA Nationals and Oct. 29-Nov. 1 for the ninth annual NHRA ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals.

"These dates work well for The Strip and its fans," said Chris Powell, LVMS's president and general manager.  "The spring race falls one week before the Easter holiday and the fall event allows us to take advantage of the annual Nevada Day festivities. These dates will allow us to further enhance drag racing's premier series and the events at the world's greatest drag strip."

LVMS's fall event also is part of the NHRA's six-race Countdown to 1 series which will determine season champions in the Top Fuel Dragster, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Bike categories.
