2009 Short Line Express Market/Chevron Jr. Drag Racing Series

The 2009 Short Line Express/Chevron  Jr. Dragster Racing Series will consist of 12 races. The participant's nine (9) best finishes in the 12 races will count toward the title. In the event that a race meet is cancelled due to any reason, the race will not be rescheduled and an adjustment will be made to the points program at the sole discretion of the track director.

Schedule subject to change due to car count and weather.  All times are approximate and subject to change.  Please note start times vary for special events due to expected increased car count. Most events will include two time-trial runs, a round of reaction-time qualifying to place cars on a ladder and eliminations.  On April 26, May 24, June 14 and Sept. 20, only one round of time trials will be held prior to reaction-time qualifying run.

Saturday, Feb. 14 - Novice training, test session - 8 a.m.-noon.
Saturday, March 14 - First points race - 9 a.m.
Saturday, Apr. 25 - Second points race - 9 a.m.
Sunday, Apr. 26 - Third points race - 9 a.m.
Saturday, May 2 - Fourth points race and Outlaw 330 - 9 a.m.
Saturday, May 23 - Fifth points race (Stars at Night Special) - 4 p.m.
Sunday, May 24 - Sixth points race - 9 a.m.
Saturday, June 6 - Seventh points race - 9 a.m.
Saturday, June 13 - Eighth points race - 9 a.m.
Sunday, June 14 - Ninth points race - 9 a.m.
Saturday, Sept. 5 - 10th points race (water balloon fight and ice cream) - 8 a.m.
Sunday, Sept. 6 - NHRA Pacific Division Jr. Drag Racing Series - 8 a.m.
Saturday, Sept. 19 - 11th points race - 8 a.m.
Sunday, Sept. 20 - 12th point race - 9 a.m.
Sept. 12-13 - NHRA Division 7 Jr. Team Finals at Fontana, Calif.

2009 point series class structure
Jr. Dragster Lightning: Ages 13 and older.  Restricted to dial-in of  7.90 seconds and slower.
Jr. Dragster Thunder: Ages 10-12.  Restricted to dial-in of 8.90 and slower.
Jr. Dragster Novice: Ages 8-9.  Restricted to dial-in of 12.90 and slower.

Points membership
All participants must obtain an LVMS membership to participate in the 2009 point program. The $40 membership fee includes: points, participant decal and eligibility for special awards.  Points will not be tabulated until after a participant signs up for membership.  Points earned prior to sign-up will not transfer.  There is no grace period for membership.  Points will not be tabulated until membership is complete.  A child's age on the first scheduled date of the series will determine the class he is participating in for the remainder of the season.  If a child wishes to move up in category following their birthday they may do so - however, points earned in the first class cannot transfer to the new class.

2009 point distribution system
The Strip at LVMS will award Short Line Express/Chevron Jr. Dragster points as follows for the 2009 season:

16 points to compete in the first round of eliminations.
10 points for each round win during race eliminations.
5 bonus points for the race elimination winner.
2 bonus points for the race elimination runner-up.
2 bonus points for the reaction-time No. 1 qualifier.

Any driver who breaks prior to first round of eliminations will receive 6 points after passing tech inspection.

Tie-breakers:
First tie-breaker will be based off of total number of round wins.
Second tie-breaker will be based on total number of final round wins.
Third tie-breaker will be based on total number of final round runner-up finishes.
Fourth tie-breaker will be based on total number of semi-final round appearances. 
Fifth tie-breaker will be based on total number of head-to-head races between the tied drivers.
Sixth tie-breaker...a foot race to the 330' mark after being blind-folded and spun around eight times.
