Again in 2010, The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will host two NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series events.

For the 10th consecutive year, The Strip at LVMS will host a pair of NHRA national events. LVMS officials today announced their two 2010 NHRA event dates: April 16-18 for the 11th annual NHRA Nationals and Oct. 28-31 for the 10th annual NHRA Las Vegas Nationals. The April 16-18 event will feature fireworks and also will mark the return of nighttime qualifying sessions.

"The spring race will bring back the excitement of watching Top Fuel Dragster and Funny Car qualifying at night, with the nitro flames shooting high into the air from the exhaust pipes," said Chris Powell, LVMS president and general manager. "The fall event allows us to take advantage of the annual Nevada Day festivities. These dates will allow us to further enhance drag racing's premier series at the world's greatest drag strip."

LVMS's autumn event also is part of the NHRA's six-race Countdown to One series which will determine season champions in the Top Fuel Dragster, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Bike categories.
