Low, Miyashiro, Emanuel win on final day of Las Vegas Bracket Nationals
at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

The 2009 edition of the Las Vegas Bracket Nationals now is history. The final pair of cars - Jim Low and Val Torres - went down the track Sunday afternoon end conclude the five-day Thanksgiving weekend dragfest.

Low defeated Torres in the final round of Super Pro eliminations to claim the remaining $5,000 check.

Mark Miyashiro defeated Donald Horn for Pro honors.

Rick Emanuel of Las Vegas was the only local winner of the weekend, outrunning Arizona's Jeff Avitabile for Sportsman honors.

Brad Burton of Golden, Colo., won the Biondo No-Electronics Bonus Race. Burton defeated Mark Kidd of Twin Falls, Ida.
Las Vegas Motor Speedway's final event of the 2009 season - Midnight Mayhem Presented By MetroPCS - takes place at The Strip at LVMS on Friday, Dec. 4.

Biondo wins second consecutive Ultimate Gambler at The Strip at LVMS
during the Las Vegas Bracket Nationals

Peter Biondo of Queens, N.Y., won his second consecutive Ultimate Gambler at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway during the third day of the annual Thanksgiving weekend Las Vegas Bracket Nationals.

The Ultimate Gambler is a winner-take-all race with a $1,000 entry fee. This year, 22 racers entered so Biondo pocketed $22,000 for his efforts.

Biondo's reaction time of .007 made the difference in defeating final-round opponent Stefan Kondolay of Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada.

Larry Richardson defeated Mark Kidd for Super Pro honors and the $5,000 winner's check. Kidd damaged his primary car during The Ultimate Gambler and used a back-up car for the Super Pro eliminations and made it to the final round.

Leo Glasbrenner defeated Kyle Rizzoli for Pro honors and Brad Plourd topped Dan Reaume for the Sportsman purse.

Minor rain delays slowed eliminations during the evening and it was decided to contest the Super Pro and Pro classes on a 1/8-mile track in the interest of safety. The Las Vegas Bracket Nationals concludes on Sunday.

Dan Lafferty (Super Pro), Kyle Rizzoli (Pro) and John Victorino (Sportsman) were Friday's big winners at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway during the second day of the Las Vegas Bracket Nationals.
Greg Hicks won the golf car race, which raised more than $600 for the non-perishable food drive.

Thursday results from the Las Vegas Bracket Nationals
at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

The first day of Las Vegas Bracket Nationals competition is in the record books at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Local racers were shut out of the winner's circle as New Mexico's Jesse Baldwin (Super Pro), Colorado's wheelstanding Scott Burton (Pro) and California's Kevin McClelland (Sportsman) claimed final-round honors.

On Wednesday, Phil Dion of Arizona won the Geezer Gambler for drivers 55 years of age and older. Dion graciously donated his Geezer Gambler winnings -- $300 - to the non-perishable food drive.

The Las Vegas Bracket Nationals continues through Sunday.

On Friday, The Strip will conduct a golf cart race after final eliminations have been completed. Entry fee is $20 and all proceeds will go to the non-perishable food drive, which also concludes Sunday.
The winner-take-all Ultimate Gambler takes place on Saturday ($1,000 entry fee).
