Local junior dragster racer Hannah Ellison clinched the Pacific Division Junior Dragster Championship in the 13-14-year-old class on Aug. 23.

The doubleheader, held at Barona Drag Strip in Lakeside, Calif., represented the final two of a 10-race series for the Division 7 junior drag racers. Ellison wrapped up her Division 7 championship on Sunday evening, just in time to return to Las Vegas to begin her first day of eighth grade on Monday at Tarkanian Middle School.

In only her third season of racing, Ellison is no stranger to winning, having claimed the LVMS Jr. Thunder championship (8-12 year olds) in her rookie year in 2013. She went on to finish as runner-up in the 12-year-old class at the 2014 NHRA Jr. Drag Racing Western Conference Finals and made a strong showing in the 13-year-old class with a semifinal finish at the event earlier this summer.

With two more races left in the LVMS points series and the Division 7 Junior Finals still to come, there is still plenty of opportunity for Ellison to turn on the win light this year.
