Ann Marie Whiteley of Grand Junction, Colo. won today’s NHRA Lucas Oil Series Top Alcohol Funny Car final over Tony Bartone of Long Island City, N.Y. Although Bartone posted a better reaction time (.066 to Whiteley’s .122), the female Funny Car driver stopped the clocks at 5.678 sec. to collect the winner’s check.

The final round of Top Alcohol Dragster eliminations will be re-run during this weekend’s NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals at The Strip at LVMS. Chris Demke of Sunland, Calif. was paired against Jim Whiteley, Ann Marie’s husband. A gust of wind blew an object through the timing beams and stopped the clock in Whiteley’s lane. With a storm front coming in from the west that pushed gusts to more than 40 mph, both drivers agreed to re-run the final during the third round of Top Alcohol Dragster qualifying on Saturday afternoon. UPDATE (MARCH 31 -- 2:30 p.m.) -- Whiteley won the race (5.52 sec./263.82 mph to Demke’s 5.80 sec./261.02 mph.

A total of 590 drivers entered this weekend’s NHRA Lucas Oil Series event and more than 13,000 fans tuned into the live Ustream Internet broadcast.

Adam Bowdish of Oregon City, Ore. Won the Comp Eliminator final over Clint Sallee of Glendive, Montana.

The Super Stock trophy went to Don Kennedy of Mesa, Ariz. after he defeated Jimmy DeFrank of Chatsworth, Calif.

Stock Eliminator honors went to Jim Meador of Yorba Linda, Calif. over Cliff Hanson of Huntington Beach, Calif.

Butch Belair of Princeton, Minn. won the Super Comp trophy over Daniel Henderson of Boulder City.

Super Gas honors went to Chad Langdon of La Mirada, Calif. over Randy Balough of Newbury Park, Calif.

Austin Downing of Phoenix won the final round of eliminations in the Super Street class. Bernie Polvadore of Sun City, Ariz. finished runner-up.

Kevin Kleineweber of Phoenix defeated Art Hoover of Concord, Calif. for Top Dragster honors.

The Top Sportsman category was won by Joe Roubicek of Westlake Village, Calif. over Ed Olpin of Pleasant Grove, Utah.

The next event at The Strip at LVMS is the NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals for the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series. The event begins with qualifying on Friday and concludes with final eliminations on Sunday. Featured classes are Top Fuel Dragster, Funny Car and Pro Stock.
