Ron Capps, a three-time winner in Funny Car at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, capped an impressive comeback by capturing the No. 1 qualifying spot for Sunday’s 11th annual Big O Tires NHRA Nationals.

Also claiming top qualifying spots were Del Worsham (Top Fuel), Mike Edwards (Pro Stock) and Hector Arana Jr. (Pro Stock Motorcycle).

Capps, who failed to qualify for the NHRA’s most recent event in Phoenix and snapped a 105-race streak, roared back in his final qualifying run on Saturday with a 4.080-second pass at 315.49 mph and earned the top qualifying position for Sunday’s eliminations.

Worsham also saved his best for last, posting a 3.796-second pass at 322.88 mph in the final qualifying session.

Edwards earned his fourth No. 1 qualifying spot at The Strip with a 6.594-second run at 208.81 mph.

Arana Jr. snagged the pole with a 6.879-second pass at 194.46 mph.
