John Force, the 15-time NHRA Funny Car world champion who swept both races at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last year, picked up where he left off in 2010 by capturing the No. 1 qualifying position for Sunday’s 12th annual NHRA Nationals.

Also claiming top qualifying spots were Larry Dixon (Top Fuel) and Mike Edwards – both defending race winners.

Force, who held the top qualifying spot after Friday’s first session, regained the pole late Saturday with a pass of 4.136 seconds at 309.27 mph. He knocked Cruz Pedregon, who qualified second, off the pole he had held since Friday’s second session.

Dixon’s time of 3.904 held up from Friday’s second Top Fuel qualifying session. Brandon Bernstein 3.926-second pass on Saturday vaulted him from No. 8 to No. 2.

Edwards’ 6.695-second pass from Friday’s opening session held up for the top qualifying spot in Pro Stock. Jason Line qualified second.

Pre-race ceremonies for the 12th annual NHRA Nationals begin at 10:15 a.m. and final eliminations in the three pro categories start at 11 a.m.
