John Mihovetz of Ontario, Calif. was tonight’s big winner as he defeated John Scialpi (Phelan, Calif.) for Pro Street honors at the Pacific Street Car Association’s Showdown After Sundown. Scialpi posted a much better reaction time – .026 to Mihovetz’s .255 – but suffered mechanical problems during the final eliminations and was forced to coast across the finish line as the win light burned brightly in his opponent’s lane. Mihovetz’s 2007 Shelby’s winning run was 6.207 sec./232.83 mph. PSCA Pro Street points leader and national record holder Mike Maggio of San Dimas, Calif. was the event’s No. 1 Qualifier (6.261 sec./234.37 mph) but he too suffered from breakage in elimination rounds.
