New Pro Index Class to be contested at 4 T.R.E. Bracket Series events at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is going to test a new category as part of the T.R.E. Bracket Series on four event nights during the 2012 season. The class, which will be known as Pro Index, will be contested on a four tenths pro tree with an index of 9.60.

"The idea for the class was brought to us from racers who race in our T.R.E. Bracket series but also compete regularly in Super Comp and Super Gas at divisional and association races," said Chris Blair. "This category will allow racers in Super Comp, who normally race on a 9.05 index, and Super Gas, who normally race on a 10.05 index, to meet in the middle and and have the opportunity to race on a Pro Tree."

Racers will be eligible to compete in the Super Pro points category during T.R.E. events as well as the Pro Index category. For racers who are already entered in the class, the entry fee for Pro Index will be $40 for the second tech card. For racers who only want to compete in Pro Index, the daily entry fee will be $60. The purse payout will be $40 for each car entered in the class plus individual event sponsorship and purse contributions. The race winner will receive 60%, runner-up 20% and each semi-finalist will take home 10% of the total purse.

"This is a class that our racers requested and we feel the timing is right due to the scheduling problems that occurred at other venues," continued Blair. "Now a racer can get two races in on a race night without additional travel expenses and have fun racing on both a pro tree and a full tree."

The first Pro Index class race schedule will be as follows:

Saturday, June 2
Saturday, June 16
Tuesday, July 3 - Late Night
Saturday, August 18 - Late Night

Pro Index will receive two qualifying runs prior to eliminations and will be placed on a pro ladder prior to round 1 eliminations.
Individual class sponsorship per night for Pro Index will be $400 with a trophy for winner and a purse contribution of $200 to the winner, $100 to the runner-up and $30 for each semi-finalist.
