It looked like an easy win for perennial favorite Mike Maggio. The San Dimas, Calif. driver was paired with Marc Meadors of Danville, Calif. in the final round of Pro Street eliminations at today’s PSCA Record Breaker Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It’s not that Meadors was an easy opponent, but he fouled (-.230) on the starting line, automatically handing the win to Maggio. To use drag-racing lingo, Maggio then “drove it out the back door” – although he had already won – to a top speed of 236.01 mph and a big puff of smoke at the finish line. Maggio’s elapsed time was 5.963 sec. in the quarter mile in what had to be an expensive victory.
