The father-and-son team of Tony and Chaysse Trimp shared the winner's circle today at the NHRA Summit Racing Series Pacific Division Finals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  Tony, of Wilton, Calif., ran in the Super Pro class for Sacramento Raceway. He posted a perfect reaction time (.000), then ran an 8.624 sec. on an 8.62 sec. dial-in (at 147.75 mph) for the win over Mike Proctor of Mesa, Ariz.

Tony’s son Chaysse drove his 1969 Opel through the Sportsman field and into a final round match-up with Jon Irving of Boulder City. Chaysse, who also is from and represented Sacramento Raceway, went 12.034 sec./115.16 mph to Irving’s red-light foul start. Both will join Ryan Smith and Aaron Pine in advancing to the NHRA Summit Racing Series National Championship held during the Auto Club NHRA Finals next month in Pomona, Calif.

Smith of Chandler, Ariz., drove his 1963 Falcon to a double-breakout win over Jeff LaSalle of Santa Rosa, Calif. Smith clocked in at 10.070 sec./134.23 mph on his 10.08 dial-in.
Pine took the honors in the Motorcycle class on his 2009 Kawasaki against T.J. Crocker of Henderson.

Both riders left early with red-light starts with Pine running it out to a 9.429 sec./148.49 mph lap.

The home team – Team Vegas – amassed 84 points to dominate the Team Championship, taking the trophy away from last year’s team champions, Infineon Raceway, Sonoma, Calif., who finished in second place with 70 points.  Auto Club Dragway, Fontana, Calif., was third.

More than 500 drivers and riders entered the event.

Daniel Henderson of Boulder City finished runner-up in the High School class during Saturday’s Race of Champions.
