Intern for Las Vegas Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities
Hi there! My name is Tawnya Schirmeister and I am an intern for the Las Vegas Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities. I wanted to give you a quick update on what’s been going on with SCC here in the last few weeks.
January was a great month for us! We hosted our second annual Laps for Charity event and it was a huge success. This event allowed anyone to drive their personal vehicles on the superspeedway for a $30 donation. We even had a couple of semi-trucks and a motor-home drive around the track. It was an amazing turn out! More than 800 cars and trucks participated and more than $32,000 was raised for local charities.
More than 100 volunteers, including many from Nellis Air Force Base Police Explorers and students from UNLV, helped make the event a huge success. We would like to thank everyone that came out to the event and everyone who helped and supported us. We would also like to send a special thanks to our new friends at Fantasy Car Rentals, Cashman Photo Enterprises, Sudden Impact and the Cannery.
We’ll keep you posted on more upcoming Speedway Children’s Charities events. We’re busy getting ready for NASCAR Weekend and have some really great things planned including the Track Walk, Driver Auction and much more! Want more information on SCC?
