All of us here at Las Vegas Motor Speedway would like to wish everyone a happy holiday season. Many of our employees will be taking the next couple of weeks to enjoy times with their families, but we also know that racing season is right around the corner.
Our gift shop and ticket offices will be open every day except for Christmas and New Year's Day.
With all of our ticket prices reduced from 2009 prices, there is no better time to purchase tickets for the Feb. 26-28, 2010 NASCAR Weekend than the present. Whether it's to see Danica Patrick in the Sam's Town 300, hometown hero Kyle Busch attempt to defend his title in the Shelby American or to see the greatest drivers in the world begin their quest to dethrone Jimmie Johnson, there are many great reasons to visit us in late February.
But most importantly, wherever you are this holiday season, we want to wish all of you a great holiday season, and we look forward to seeing you here at LVMS in 2010.
Smiles and laughter filled the Media Center on Wednesday, December 9 as Speedway Children's Charities hosted the annual Grant Distribution and Tree Lighting Ceremony.
As Santa Claus raced in from the North Pole on a Richard Petty race car to deliver presents and candy canes, Speedway Children's Charities - Las Vegas Chapter distributed $275,000 to 78 local children's charities.
The Tree Lighting Ceremony is for the kids, and our friends and supporters wouldn't have it any other way. This year was no different - high-fives were flying around the buffet line as children loaded their plates with popcorn chicken, French fries and macaroni and cheese. Some of our special guests included Las Vegas Motor Speedway President and General Manager Chris Powell; retired NBA star Jerome Williams; and 97.1 The Point Morning Show Queen Steph MacKenzie. Performances by Culture Shock Dance Troupe, Malia Civetz, Rumpleskilton Events, Pit Boss, and stilt men kept the children entertained for hours.
Thanks again for your continued support throughout the year. Making a difference in a child's life is the focus of Speedway Children's Charities. It's because of you that we are able to do just that.
Have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. We will see you in 2010!
We have now wrapped up the very first Chasers for Charity Fanfest here at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and we would like to thank all of the fans for making the event such a great success.
The Neon Garage hosted some great entertainers and guests throughout the day including Tabor Dame, ESPN's Jamie Little, NASCAR legend Dale Jarrett and much more. Fans lined the red carpet winding through the entire garage as all twelve drivers made their way through the crowd, signing autographs and taking photos. The top four 2009 finishers, Kurt Busch, Jeff Gordon, Mark Martin and Jimmie Johnson, stopped for an interview on stage and then headed to the media center to prepare for the roast of the 2009 NASCAR Chase Champion, Jimmie Johnson.
At the roast, the jokes began right away as Las Vegas comedian and roast host, Kevin Burke took to the stage in front of more than 200 fans on the third floor of the LVMS media center. All speedway guests were able to watch the roast, which lasted over an hour, on televisions located inside the Neon Garage. The eleven drivers were given the chance to roast Jimmie Johnson and they did not disappoint.
After each driver took to the stage for their chance to roast, it was Jimmie Johnson who had the last word and he used it to thank the fans and everyone involved for making the inaugural Chasers for Charity Fanfest such a success.
Again, we here at Las Vegas Motor Speedway would like to thank all of the fans for coming out and making this a great event benefiting a great cause. All proceeds from the Chasers for Charity Fanfest will go to Speedway Children's Charities to help children of Southern Nevada.
