    William G. Bennett, former chairman and co-founder of Circus Circus Entertainment, passed away Sunday, Dec. 22, after a lengthy illness. Bennett, owner of the Sahara Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, also was the co-founder of Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

    The Las Vegas Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities held its annual Grant Distribution and Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 6 p.m. The Las Vegas chapter presented checks in the total sum of $228,000 to 31 local children's charities at the ceremony.
