Tomorrow will become today on Dec. 11 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. NASCAR's "Car of Tomorrow" will make take its first laps around the high-banked superspeedway as five drivers will conduct a tire test on behalf of Goodyear. Two-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Tony Stewart, 2003 champion Matt Kenseth, Jeff Burton, Kasey Kahne and Travis Kvapil will take part in the two-day test.

Steve Harwell, lead singer of the pop rock group Smash Mouth, has filed an entry to compete in the 140-lap, $5,000-to-win Super Late Model feature during Saturday's Fall Classic Presented By Bank of America at the Bullring. Harwell's driving coach John Freeman has joined the fray: he will pilot a second Dick Cobb-owned car.

America's fastest trucks will come to Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2008 and find a new race sponsor.
Qwik Liner, one of the nation's leaders in truck bedliner coating, has signed on as a multi-year sponsor of LVMS's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event. The event will be known as the Qwik Liner Las Vegas 350 and will be run Sept. 20, 2008 on the high-banked, 1.5-mile superspeedway.

The Las Vegas Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities hosted its third annual Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at The Cannery Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The evening of "Cards for Kids" raised $16,000 for the children of Las Vegas and Southern Nevada.

Travis Kvapil, driving the No. 6 K&N Filters Ford, won tonight's Smith's Las Vegas 350 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event.
Kvapil started the 146-lap race from the pole position, stayed in the top 10 for much of the race and overtook JJon Wood for the lead with 13 laps to go. The win was Kvapil's fourth in the last nine races.

The blood drive will be held at Las Vegas Motor Speedway's infield media center from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. LVMS is one of more than 20 NASCAR race tracks nationwide participating in this annual event which collected more than 2,000 pints of blood in 2006. Individuals who donate blood will also have an opportunity to add their names to the bone marrow registry through the National Marrow Donor Program.

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will continue to have cosponsorship from Smith's Food & Drug Stores and Las Vegas Events. Smith's joined with longtime Truck race sponsor Las Vegas Events last year and both have elected to return to their title roles for the Sept. 22 Smith's Las Vegas 350 on the superspeedway's high-banked oval. This will mark Las Vegas Events' sixth consecutive year as a sponsor of the Truck race.

For the second consecutive year, the Accident Re-creation Conference (ARC) held its training seminar at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Hosted Monday morning by the North Las Vegas Police Department, the four-day seminar featured one day of intentional crashing -- a.k.a. accident re-creation -- in the pit area of the speedway's half-mile dirt oval.

The spectators who are found guilty of throwing cans and other debris on Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway will not be welcome at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. LVMS general manager Chris Powell said Wednesday that fans banned from Talladega as a result of Sunday's trash-throwing incident will not be allowed to purchase tickets at LVMS.

Jeff Burton passed Kyle Busch on the final lap to win today's Sam's Town 300. The race, slowed by a record 12 caution flags, came down to the final lap when Burton caught Busch and passed him on the outside in Turn 4. Busch's car wiggled slightly as Burton made his pass and he spun as Burton crossed the finish line.

The NASCAR Busch Series event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will continue to be sponsored by Sam's Town Hotel and Gambling Hall, officials of the sponsoring hotel and the speedway announced today.
The race name remains the Sam's Town 300, which is the event's only name in its 11-year history at LVMS.

Qualifying for the UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 was reminiscent of a famous quote by baseball great Yogi Berra: "It was deja-vu all over again." The old track record was set in March 2004 by Kasey Kahne, who was a NASCAR Nextel Cup Series rookie at the time. It was no surprise the track record would fall. After the banking in the superspeedway's turns was increased from 12 degrees to 20, the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series cars were running at least 10 mph faster than Kahne's record during NASCAR Preseason Thunder Las Vegas testing in January.

NASCAR announced today cars entered in LVMS' NASCAR Weekend will be required to use the smaller 13-gallon fuel cell for the UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 and Sam's Town 300. "NASCAR's decision to use 13-gallon fuel cells for both the UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 and Sam's Town 300 will make for an even more exciting race," said LVMS general manager Chris Powell. "This decision should keep the racing tighter and give the teams more opportunities to measure tire wear."

There's a new club in Las Vegas. This new club doesn't have a dance floor, disco ball or DJ booth; but it has unlimited food and drinks, VIP parking and unprecedented access to Nevada's largest sporting event.
The Blackjack Club will be located on the third floor of the speedway's new infield media center. It will give race fans a bird's eye view of the front straightaway, provide access to both the pits and the new Neon Garage and give them a patio from which to watch the racing action.
