Three-time NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series Pro Stock champion Jeg Coughlin Jr. has filed an entry for The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway's Nov. 22-25 Bracket Nationals. Jeg's, a leading high performance parts distributor, also will contribute gift certificates for the event. Coughlin will be joined by NHRA Pro Stock driver Dave Connolly and NHRA Funny Car star Jack Beckman as they take on hundreds on local heroes.

Mike Moran of Taylor, Mich., won the final round of Pro Street competition during the annual Dyno-Flow Street Car Super Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Moran's 1999 Monte Carlo defeated Jimmy Mock's (Yorba Linda, Calif.) 1951 Chevrolet 6.472 sec./233.76 mph to 6.834 sec./215.89 mph. The East-West shootout saw the fastest 32-car Pro Street field in history: an E.T. of 6.98 sec. or better was required to qualify.

Las Vegas' own "Hot Rod" Fuller completed the best weekend of his three-year professional career by winning the seventh annual NHRA ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals to surge back into the POWERade points lead with one race left in the season. Fuller's third win of the season follows a thrilling victory Saturday in the Technicoat Top Fuel Shootout.

"Hot Rod" Fuller bagged drag racing's biggest one-day purse with a thrilling holeshot victory over Melanie Troxel Saturday at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Fuller's 4.527 at 329.99 mph was just enough to beat Troxel's 4.526 at 326.40 mph and help the Caterpillar team clinch the top prize.

The hottest drag racer on the planet is the No. 1 qualifier at the seventh annual ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals as Pro Stock points leader Dave Connolly vaulted to the top spot with a 6.725 at 205.57 mph Saturday at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Connolly joined Friday leaders Tony Schumacher, Robert Hight, and Chip Ellis, who all maintained their No. 1 qualifying spots, Hight and Ellis doing so with improved times.

With father-in-law John Force watching from starting line, Robert Hight streaked to the No. 1 qualifying spot in Funny Car Friday night with a second-round blast of 4.763 seconds at 322.58 mph to lead the provisional field of the seventh annual ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals. Tony Schumacher (Top Fuel), Justin Humphreys (Pro Stock), and Chip Ellis (Pro Stock Motorcycle) joined Hight in topping the charts after the first day of professional qualifying.

Jason Whiteneack, 33, of Boulder City, passed away Saturday as a result of injuries sustained in a highway accident. Jason was a regular competitor at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and finished third in the 2007 Jerry's Nugget Championship Drag Racing Series in the Motorcycle class. An informal get-together/memorial for Jason was held on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the grandstands at The Strip.

If Greg Anderson doesn't find exactly what he was looking for during three days of testing at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, it's not through lack of effort. Anderson and his Summit Racing team completed more than 20 passes at the last-minute session, 10th of which were on Day 3. For comparison, winning NHRA POWERade Series teams make a maximum of four laps on race day with maintenance between each round. His quickest attempt was a 6.726 second pass at 204.17 mph.

After enjoying a comfortable lead early in the day, Team Las Vegas was on edge as the sun set on The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway during the NHRA Pacific Division Summit Racing Series Finals. As the semi-final rounds of competition drew near, several Team Las Vegas racers were eliminated and the championship rested solely on the shoulders of John "Darth" Phlegar of Las Vegas.

The Bud Light Best Light of the Night Award will pay $100 cash and product awards to the drivers and riders in the Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Motorcycle categories who post the best reaction time during eliminations.

Fourteen-time NHRA Funny Car champion John Force will cheer his teammates on from the sidelines after failing to qualify for eliminations for the first time since 1987. While Force's qualifying streak ends at 395 consecutive events, he is not alone: Top Fuel Dragster driver Doug Kalitta also will sit this one out after his skein halted at 164. Tony Schumacher (Top Fuel Dragster), Mike Ashley (Funny Car) and Jeg Coughlin Jr. all retained their No. 1 Qualifier status from Saturday.

Reigning Mrs. Nevada titleholder Victoria Broz will be drag-racing her black 2004 Corvette at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Wednesday evening during Wednesday Night Street Wars. In the Mrs. Nevada pageant program, Victoria listed drag-racing her Corvette at The Strip as one of her hobbies. She also volunteered in the media center at Las Vegas Motor Speedway during NASCAR Weekend earlier this month.

BFGoodrich Midnight Mayhem, The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway's safe alternative to illegal street racing, will commence its sixth season on Friday, Feb. 9. The program was designed to attract illegal street racers to the safe confines of The Strip and is open to any licensed driver with proof of insurance and any street-legal car or motorcycle.
