Mike Skinner of Susanville, Calif., scored his fifth NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Bud Pole Award while qualifying for this evening’s Las Vegas 350 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Skinner’s Toyota Tundra Toyota toured the 1.5-mile superspeedway quicker than anyone else, with a lap of 32.676 sec. at 165.258 mph. Skinner also won the Bud Pole Award for the 2004 Las Vegas 350. If Skinner wins tonight’s Las Vegas 350, he will receive the $12,000 win-from-the-pole bonus from Craftsman.

Bill Lester of Oakland, Calif., will share the front row with Skinner. Lester’s NewPage Toyota qualified at 32.690 sec.

Toyota swept the first four qualifying positions. Todd Bodine and David Reutimann will start third and fourth, respectively.

Brendan Gaughan of Las Vegas will start 12th and Steve Park of E. Northport, N.Y., driving the second Las Vegas-based Orleans Racing entry will start 14th. Gaughan’s Jasper Engines & Transmissions Dodge qualified at 33.164 sec./162.827 mph. Park’s crew chief, Charlie Wilson, headed back home to Bakersfield, Calif., because his wife is ill. Park’s temporary crew chief for the Las Vegas 350 will be Danny Stockton.

There were no DNQs – 36 Trucks took time and all qualified for the Las Vegas 350.
