NASCAR Nextel Cup Series driver Bobby Labonte took as much time as he could during testing at Daytona and Las Vegas Motor Speedway to get to know his new car and team.

Labonte made the move from Joe Gibbs Racing to Petty Enterprises for the 2006 season and seems to be happy with the results so far. With a good qualifying run at Daytona and a good test at LVMS last month, Labonte says the best part of the whole experience has been getting acquainted with his new team.

"Right now, we're just trying to get to know each other," said Labonte. "That's what Daytona was about and that's what Las Vegas was about."

Veteran crew chief Todd Parrott has joined Labonte's team. Both are new to Petty Enterprises and Labonte feels that the match is a good one.

"We're here to win," said Labonte. "We have all the people in place now and we can't wait to get this season started. I want to work with Todd and understand him, and hopefully he can understand me. We can build that communication as we head into that first part of the season."

Labonte and 50 fellow NASCAR Nextel Cup Series drivers have entered the UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 on March 12, 2006 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. To purchase NASCAR Weekend tickets in the new Richard Petty Terrace, call the LVMS ticket office at (800) 644-4444 or log on to www.lvms.com.
