The Las Vegas chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction and representatives from the construction industry will host Nevada's first annual Construction Career Days event Friday, at Las Vegas Motor Speedway's Neon Garage.

Clark County high school students will have the chance to explore first-hand, the career possibilities in construction. This one-day event will allow students to learn about construction machinery, participate in interactive workshops and explore internships, apprenticeship programs and higher education opportunities.

Even with the recent downturn in the economy, a shortage of qualified construction workers in the United States still remains. The first wave of baby boomers will begin retiring in 2010, which will create a greater demand for workers in the industry for years to come. Friday's event aims to educate students about various careers available within the construction industry.
