The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will host the next session of MOPAR Midnight Mayhem Friday, Aug. 23, from 9 p.m.-1 a.m.
The new Showcase class will give the faster street-legal cars and opportunity to showcase their muscle. The entry fee will be $30 and no ride-along passengers will be allowed in this class. Showcase cars must meet all LVMS MOPAR Midnight Mayhem rules, including: valid driver's license, registration and insurance and class vehicle rules. Drag slicks, water in burn-out area and open exhaust are allowed. All cars must meet NHRA E.T. Bracket safety rules per E.T. run. Class will be run at 9:30 p.m., 11 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. This is the only time water will be sprayed in the burn-out box. The starting line will be groomed and sprayed prior to each session. Races will be run without the finish line scoreboards and driver will receive only his half of the time slip. A time-run lane and a "grudge lane" will be designated for this class.
Now in its 12th year, MOPAR Midnight Mayhem is The Strip at LVMS's safe alternative to illegal street racing. The speedway staff encourages enthusiasts to race each other on the safer confines of its NHRA-sanctioned, quarter-mile drag strip.
MOPAR Midnight Mayhem is open to any street-legal vehicle and any licensed driver.
Entry fee is $15 to race or ride along and $5 admission for spectators. Restricted-area passes also are available for $15.
