Albuquerque's Jason Irwin parlayed a third-place finish on The Bullring at LVMS' Night of Fire on Friday into the points lead in the NASCAR Grand American Modified division.

The 18-year-old reigning class champion moved past Doug Hamm into the top spot with 298 points, five ahead of Hamm and 19 ahead of third-place Vinny Raucci Jr. Irwin's ascension was the only change at the top of the 3/8-mile track's season points standings, as most divisional leaders used the Night of Fire to pad their leads.

Five-time track champion Scott Gafforini finished second in the NASCAR Super Late Models' "Spirit of '76" 76-lap feature on Friday and now leads Night of Fire winner Dennis Rock Jr. by 41 points, 411-370, heading into the season's home stretch. Matt Larsen won the NASCAR Super Stocks feature on Friday, but still trails points leader Jason Kiser 371-351, while Court Connell's NASCAR Bombers victory only helped him gain two points on leader Aaron McMorran, who leads him 375-346.

Peyton Saxton earned another USLCI Legends class win on the Night of Fire and holds an impressive 122-point advantage over second-place Bryan Grandin, while Michael Todd Glazier's USLCI Legends Master division lead remains small, just four points clear of Randy Beddow and Gina Tillman by a mark of 420-416. Devin Lane maintained his advantage in the USLCI Legends Semi-Pro class and leads Brian Williams 378-370, and Cameron Morga's lead over Caden Carlin shrunk by 50 points to 442-420 in the USLCI Legends Young Lions division.

R.J. Smotherman's Night of Fire win has him with a 498-464 lead over Ethan DeGuevara in the USLCI O'Hanley's Bandolero Bandits division, while Kyle Jacks won the USLCI O'Hanley's Bandolero Outlaws race and leads Philip Root 476-458. The USLCI Thunder Cars did not race on the Night of Fire, so Ian Anderson will head into the Aug. 22 race with a 350-318 lead over Chris Bosley.

The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series resumes on Saturday, Aug. 22, with another full night of racing, and only four more race nights remain before The Bullring's Championship Night on Oct. 26. The inaugural Las Vegas Motor Speedway Show & Shine car show benefiting the Las Vegas chapter of Speedway Children's Charities will take place at the short track from noon to 4 p.m. Pacific Time and will feature a number of area car clubs showing off their prized cars for an array of prizes. The night's full slate of racing will consist of NASCAR Super Late Models, Bombers and Super Stocks and USAC HPD Midget Series racers, as well as USLCI Legend Cars, Thunder Cars and O'Hanley's Bandoleros.

One of the most affordable entertainment options in Las Vegas, the Bullring's annual series will feature family friendly concession prices that include $2 hot dogs and Coca-Cola products and $3 Budweiser beer. Spectators can also save money by purchasing admission tickets in advance by visiting or calling the LVMS ticket office at 702.644.4444 or online at LVMS.com.
