Dodge will reveal its 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car in Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s Neon Garage on Sunday, March 11, prior to the start of the Kobalt Tools 400. The unveiling of the 2013 Dodge Charger for NASCAR competition will take place immediately following the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series public drivers’ meeting.
“We really are excited,” said Las Vegas Motor Speedway President Chris Powell. “Dodge has been the official vehicle of Las Vegas Motor Speedway since 2001. We’re appreciative and happy that Dodge has chosen LVMS as the place where the new NASCAR Dodge Charger will be unveiled. We are very much looking forward to this.”
The unveiling will take place in Victory Lane in the Neon Garage. It will also be televised through the Sprint Vision screens so fans in the grandstands also will be able to see the unveiling.
Stock car racing fans have voiced their appreciation of the decision to have the race cars for the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season more closely resemble the vehicles they drive on the street.
“At Chrysler, we’re big believers in not just creating cars. We like to create iconic vehicles – vehicles that are emotional and tug at your heartstrings,” said Ralph Gilles, President and CEO, Chrysler Street and Racing Technology Brand and Motorsports. “When we did the NASCAR Nationwide Series Challenger in 2010, the response we received was phenomenal. The fans were saying, ‘Hallelujah, the race car is looking a lot like the car I can buy and drive.’
“We are one of the very few (manufacturers) that make a variety of muscle cars. We have two rear-drive muscle cars – the Charger and the Challenger – so we really fit NASCAR well. We’re really excited for 2013 and we’ll be showing the new re-bodied NASCAR Sprint Cup car at Las Vegas. That’s our home track. It’s one of the tracks we have sponsored. It’s a Dodge track, so to speak, so it’s coming home in a way. We’re very excited to finally show it and everybody’s been asking about it. People have been getting on us for not showing it earlier but we wanted to wait for the timing to be right.”
