Las Vegas Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities grants $260,000 in 2014
The Las Vegas Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities is granting approximately $260,000 to local charities this year, including 45 local causes at its annual Grant Distribution and Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony on Tuesday, Dec. 9 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Candlelighters for Childhood Cancer, St. Jude's Ranch for Children - Nevada Region, Down Syndrome Organization of Southern Nevada, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Las Vegas and the Muscular Dystrophy Association will be among the charities receiving grants on Tuesday from the local chapter of Speedway Children's Charities.
Fundraising events for the 2014 season included Laps for Charity at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the Drive for Charity Golf Tournament, the PJ 5K Run and 1-Mile Walk and the NASCAR Driver & Memorabilia Auction.
The Grant Ceremony will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Drivers' Meeting Room in the infield media center of the speedway. Steph MacKenzie from Lotus Broadcasting will co-emcee the program with new SCC Board member Jamie Little, a motor sports host and NASCAR pit reporter for Fox Sports. Children from each organization are invited to attend the event, which will include a food, holiday games and gifts from Santa Claus, who will arrive aboard a Richard Petty Driving Experience race car.
Santa Claus will distribute gifts donated from a toy drive held by Harsch Management and Exotics Racing. The children and their families also will be treated to complimentary tram rides through Glittering Lights at Las Vegas Motor Speedway when the program concludes.
The Grant Ceremony is sponsored by Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Levy Restaurants, Fun For All Games, Cashman Photo Enterprises, Exotics Racing and Harsch Management.
Making a difference in children's lives is the focus of Speedway Children's Charities. SCC strives to do this in collaboration with the non-profit organizations it supports nationwide. For more information on SCC, please contact director Paulette Anderson at (702) 632-8242 or email@example.com.
