Las Vegas Motor Speedway will host the sixth and final race of the 2012 Global Rallycross Championship series on Saturday, Sept. 29. The event will be held in conjunction with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at LVMS on the same day.

GRC and Speedway Motorsports, Inc., parent company of LVMS, today announced an exciting new working relationship to develop the sport of rallycross in the United States. The relationship will bring select GRC events to LVMS, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway and New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

“We are excited to welcome this spectacular form of motorsports entertainment to Las Vegas and our speedway,” said LVMS president Chris Powell. “Global Rallycross adds even more excitement to our NASCAR Camping World Truck Series weekend and we are confident our fans will enjoy the show.”

GRC combines the energy of motorsport with the attitude of action sport and features production-based, compact cars highly modified for competition to produce more than 600 horsepower. With all-wheel drive, GRC cars can turn on a dime and accelerate from zero to 60 mph in less than two seconds. The race tracks, usually around one mile long, are made up of asphalt and dirt and include a crossover 70-foot gap jump along with tight turns and snap directional changes. Races progress in multi-car heats towards an eight-car main event.

Ken Block, Tanner Foust, Travis Pastrana and Brian Deegan are just some of the top drivers scheduled to participate in the event at LVMS.

Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Speedway Motorsports, a leading marketer and promoter of motorsports entertainment in the United States.  For more information visit www.speedwaymotorsports.com.
