The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will celebrate Armed Forces Day by paying tribute to local armed services members and veterans on Saturday with Lucas Oil Presents Military Appreciation Night.
The special night at the 3/8-mile track will honor the men and women in the Las Vegas area who have served and currently serve in the U.S. armed forces. Col. Ross Anderson, 926th Wing Commander at Nellis Air Force Base, will be on-hand for the festivities and will be joined by the Nellis AFB Honor Guard.
In addition, representatives from Nellis AFB will perform the national anthem and provide the invocation during an extended opening ceremonies program that will also include a swearing-in ceremony for Air Force recruits. All military personnel and veterans and their families will receive free admission (up to four people) with a valid ID and will receive special recognition during the night's races.
Fans will be able to enjoy a full slate of racing that will include USLCI O'Hanley's Bandoleros, NASCAR Super Stocks and Super Late Models, USLCI Legends and Lucas Oil Modifieds. The NASCAR Super Late Models kick off the night's racing with a four-lap trophy dash, and the Lucas Oil Modifieds anchor the evening with a 75-lap feature.
Military Appreciation Night is the first of a series of theme nights The Bullring will host this season. Saturday, May 30, will be Hometown Heroes Night Presented by K&N Filters, and several other special celebrations are in the works for the remainder of the track's racing nights, including the annual Night of Fire on Friday, July 3.
One of the most affordable entertainment options in Las Vegas, the Bullring's annual series will feature family friendly concession prices that include $2 hot dogs and Coca-Cola products and $3 Budweiser beer. Spectators can also save money by purchasing admission tickets in advance by visiting or calling the LVMS ticket office at 702.644.4444 or online at LVMS.com.
Gates open for spectators at 5 p.m. Pacific Time on Saturday, opening ceremonies are set for 7 p.m. and racing follows immediately.
