The Color Me Rad 5k competition will take place Saturday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway at 9 a.m. The colorful charity event will benefit the Las Vegas Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities.

The rainbow-hued run will begin at 9 a.m. as waves of racers are pelted every five minutes with “color bombs,” a non-toxic powder mix of food coloring and corn starch. The runners/targets are transformed into pop art canvases as they race each other for charity.

The event offers a unique twist not available at other foot races: If you can’t compete in the race, you can join the color bomb squad and pelt runners with fistfuls of chromatic chaos.

A check will be presented to Speedway Children’s Charities at the end of the race at approximately 11 a.m.

Making a difference in a child's life is the focus of Speedway Children's Charities. SCC strives to do this in collaboration with the non-profit organizations it supports nationwide. Individually, SCC's local chapters identify the needs of children in their communities and award grants to organizations that address them. Last December, the Las Vegas Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities granted $260,000 to 46 local children's causes during its annual grant distribution ceremony.
