There were no changes among the points leaders after the ninth week of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and the closest championship battles continue to be found in the entry-level Bandolero divisions.

Joey Paonessa, a 14-year-old from Henderson, finished second to Philip Root of Las Vegas in Saturday night's 12-lap Bandolero Outlaws feature and increased her lead in the division to four points over Las Vegas' Caden Carlin. Root is third in points, 42 behind Paonessa.

In the Bandolero Bandits division, Dezel West of Henderson scored his fourth consecutive victory in Saturday night's 12-lap feature and extended his points lead from two to 16 over fellow Henderson resident Mason Sargent. Sargent, who has six victories this season, was involved in a four-car incident on the second lap of Saturday's race and could not finish.

In the featured Super Late Model class, Scott Gafforini scored his fifth victory of the season in Saturday night's 40-lap main event and increased his lead from 16 to 21 points over David Anderson. Dennis Rock Jr. remained third in points, 33 points behind Gafforini.

Other class points leaders are Don Sargent (NASCAR Bombers), Vinny Raucci Jr. (NASCAR Super Stock), Jason Irwin (Grand American Modified), Peyton Saxton (Legend Car Pro), Michael Todd Glazer (Legend Car Master), Devin Lane (Legend Car Semi-Pro), Jordan Dean (Legend Car Young Lions) and Chris Bosley (Thunder Car).

Racing resumes at The Bullring this Thursday night for the annual "Night of Fire." In addition to a 76-lap Super Late Model feature and racing in six other divisions, fans will be treated to an exhibition by the "Shocker" Monster Truck, a jet-car burn by the "MAVTV Missile" and a waterless boat race, where cars race while towing junk boats behind them. Capping the night will be a spectacular holiday fireworks display at approximately 10 p.m.

Spectator gates will open at 5 p.m., qualifying starts at 6 and racing begins at 7. In addition to the featured Super Late Model class, Super Stocks, Grand American Modifieds, Bombers, Legend Cars, Thunder Cars and Bandoleros will be in action on Thursday.

Spectators can save money by purchasing tickets in advance by visiting or calling the LVMS ticket office at 702-644-4444 or online at www.lvms.com. As always, The Bullring offers $1 hot dogs and Coca-Cola products and $2 Budweiser beer.
