Niswonger wins Super Pro finale at The Strip

(June 14) Veteran Super Pro racer Joe Niswonger of Las Vegas suffered a heart attack on May 1, was cleared to return to competition May 17 and won tonight at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  Niswonger's Part-Time Mistress 1970 Chevelle defeated Glen Copley's 1968 Camaro for Super Pro honors in the Jerry's Nugget Championship Drag Racing Series.

Dan Reaume of Kingman, Ariz., currently works in the hydroelectric power industry in Northern Calif. and commutes to The Strip on weekends.  His journey paid off tonight as he defeated Monroe, Utah's Scott Parsons in the final round of Pro competition.

Mike Niswonger of Wheatland, Calif., defeated Boulder City's John Irving for Sportsman honors.

Rick Newport of West Valley, Utah, won the Motorcycle class over Dave Phillips of Las Vegas.

On Saturday afternoon, Cody Webber of Kingman, Ariz., defeated Cody Topol of Pahrump for Short Line Express Markets Jr. Dragster Thunder honors.

Jr. Dragster Lightning honors went to Tristan Craig of Las Vegas, who defeated Garrett Parsons of Monroe, Utah.

Cody Parsons of Monroe, Utah, won the Jr. Dragster Novice class over Kylie Wakenhut of Las Vegas.
