Mel Larson Night of Champions honors Dr. Dale Carrison; Dinner raises $62,000 for Speedway Children's Charities
Tuesday, January 29, 2008

The Las Vegas Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities and Las Vegas Motor Speedway hosted the third annual Mel Larson Night of Champions Dinner on Monday, January 28, at Bally's Hotel & Casino.  The event, which honored Dr. Dale Carrison, raised more than $62,000 for the local chapter of Speedway Children's Charities.

The purpose of the annual dinner is to honor local community members and racing champions.
The dinner featured NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Kyle Petty as the keynote speaker.  The speedway also recognized the 2007 season champions from The Strip at LVMS and the Bullring.    Carrison and Petty also participated in a meet-and-greet with guests during the reception.

Known as "Dr. Dale," Carrison has practiced medicine since 1991 and has treated race fans, drivers and officials at LVMS since its inaugural season in 1996. Carrison also is the chairman of the Nevada Homeland Security Commission.  Dale was appointed by former Gov. Kenny Guinn and continues to serve under Nevada's current governor, Jim Gibbons.

Last December, the Las Vegas Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities distributed more than $314,000 to 67 local charities at its annual grant distribution ceremony.
