Sprague latest ex-Winston Cup driver to enter Las Vegas 350

The most successful NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver in Las Vegas Motor Speedway history has become the latest former NASCAR Winston Cup star to enter the Sept. 27 Las Vegas 350.

Jack Sprague holds virtually every Truck Series record at LVMS. In five career starts, he has two wins (1996 and 1998) and three runner-up finishes (1997, 1999 and 2001). There was no race in 2000 and Sprague did not compete in last year¿s event. Sprague is the only driver with more than one win at LVMS. He also holds track records for most poles (three), most top-five finishes (five), most top-10 finishes (five), most laps led in a career (307), most laps led in a race (104 in 2001), most money won in a career ($299,300) and is one of only two drivers to ever win from the pole. David Starr is the other. Sprague finished sixth in the 2002 Sam¿s Town 300 NASCAR Busch Series race and 26th in this year¿s UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 NASCAR Winston Cup event.

"I love racing in Las Vegas," Sprague said. "I don¿t know what it is about that track, but I¿ve always run well there. I guess with two wins and three second-place finishes, I had better go out there and even up the score with that third win."

Sprague will be a teammate of Travis Kvapil and will drive the No. 11 IWX Motor Freight Chevrolet.

Sprague is the seventh former NASCAR Winston Cup driver entered in the Las Vegas 350. The list includes Ted Musgrave, Bobby Hamilton, Robert Pressley, Andy Houston, Randy LaJoie and Morgan Shepherd.

Qualifying for the Las Vegas 350 begins at noon on Saturday, Sept. 27. There will be a driver autograph session at 4:30 p.m. behind the main grandstands and the race is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Tickets are available by calling 1-800-644-4444 or online at www.lvms.com.
