Lady Luck rules supreme in Las Vegas. So it's clearly by good fortune that motorsports artist Sam Bass and some of the country's most ardent NASCAR fans will have the opportunity to visit with one another this week as they converge on Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the UAW Daimler-Chrysler 400. Bass, who designed the cover art for the race's souvenir program, will be on hand to sign autographs at three personal appearances this weekend. "Designing the Las Vegas Motor Speedway program cover is always a welcomed challenge, where I can combine two great entities within the composition - motorsports and the city of Las Vegas," explained Bass. "The races are a 'gamble' for the competitors and like gambling, no one likes to lose." Bass, the first artist officially licensed by NASCAR, will sign autographs at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway gift shop on Friday, March 10 from noon until 1 p.m., and then again on Saturday, March 11, from noon until 1 p.m. His Friday itinerary will also include an appearance at the Official NASCAR Store from 4 p. m. until 6 p. m. Located in the Fashion Mall at 3200 Las Vegas Blvd. South, the store is carrying a broad selection of the artist's posters, as well as his highly-acclaimed book, "The NASCAR Art of Sam Bass." Be sure to stop by and spend a few moments with one of NASCAR's most engaging personalities. He's looking forward to seeing you! Sam Bass is the most accomplished artist in NASCAR. Since 1987, he has created race team graphics for corporate America's leading sponsors, NASCAR team owners and drivers. He is also known for his fine-art original paintings and a distinctive style when it comes to his design of track program covers, racing-themed ad campaigns, posters, apparel and custom shop guitars. His personal studio and motorsports art gallery in Concord, N.C., are adjacent to Lowe's Motor Speedway. He is the first officially licensed artist of NASCAR.
